Our Coastal Frames are made from a hand-painted wooden front moulding in a choice of 4 delightful pastel shades:

  • Pink
  • Blue
  • Lemon
  • Mint

Each frame has a traditional front and back mount. We advise you to choose the white mounts though as they match perfectly and look the best. However, our blue mounts also match the Coastal Blue frame.
Silver, Pearl White or white painted casts match perfectly.

The frames come ready-assembled and have been specially designed for ease of use. All you have to do is bend the flexi-pins to remove the back to place your casts inside.

The construction of our Coastal Frames is the same as for the Deep Frames with Pine Box so has a 2"/5cm deep pine box on the back for your casts. The inside of the box is painted white.

They come in sizes:

  • 8x8"
  • 10x8"
  • 16x10"

But we can make our other standard sizes too: 12x10", 18x10", 26x11" Siblings/LOVE and 26x13" Family frames as a special order.

The single square aperture measures 15 x 15 cm.

The frames are suited to 2 casts of a newborn or toddler or a hand of a child up to approximately age 4.

For a comparison of the different frame shapes and sizes please take a look at our Choosing a Frame page.

You can either purchase the Coastal Frames on their own or add baby casting materials to convert them into a full kit.

To help you decide which frame colour and paint combination to choose you can ask yourself a few questions, such as:

  • Where will I hang my frame - do I need to match it to the decor of an existing room?
  • Do I want to include a landscape or portrait photo in the frame?
  • How many 3D hand and foot casts/clay impressions do I want - 1, 2 or 4?
  • What combination of hands and feet do I want?
  • What size frame do I want? Our frames are measured in GLASS SIZE.
  • What colour should the frame rim be?
  • What colour should the casts/impressions be?
  • What colour should the front and back mounts be?
  • Do I want an engraved name-plate with my child's name and age? Which colour? Which font?
  • Do I want an under mount to create a stepped, two-colour effect for my front mount?

How to make the perfect cast of your baby's hand or foot

We recommend making one complete foot mould and cast first so that you can identify and correct any problems before using up the rest of your material.
Mix the impression powder 1. Mix the impression powder (also called alginate) with cool-tepid water and put the mixture into a plastic bag. Measure your amount carefully as this can seriously affect your results. The impression powder is non-toxic and biodegradeable, so is totally safe to use on the skin. Its more common use is in dentistry and it has been thoroughly tested by this industry. We have all the relevant health & safety data available on request.
Squeeze the impression mixture around the hand/foot 2. Push your baby's hand or foot into the impression material and squeeze it around the foot/hand & wait until it has set. It only takes 2 minutes from mixing to setting! The mould can then be gently pulled away from the limb. The time taken for the mould to set varies with temperature of the air and the water as well as the amount of water added. To extend the moulding time you can add a little more water. Also, the colder the water the more time you get before the mould sets.
Mix and pour the casting powder into the mould 3. The casting powder can then be mixed and poured into the mould. To avoid bubbles tap the mould on a hard surface to knock them out of the casting mix before it sets. You can also help release bubbles by gently wiggling the bristle end of the paintbrush inside the mould right in the toes but take care not to do any damage!! This problem is particularly bad if you are trying to cast baby hands. You need to give the filled mould a good shake with your hand sealing the open top to try and release as many bubbles caught in the fingers as possible.
Peel away the mould a few hours later 4. Peel away the mould a few hours later and your cast is made! Remember in our 8 cast baby casting kit we provide enough material for up to 8 attempts of a newborn.
Prepare your finished lifecast for display 5. Prepare your finished lifecast for display by levelling the base using a knife or grater if necessary. Then, allow 4-5 days for your cast to dry out before painting and/or mounting in one of our specially made box frames with sufficient depth to hold the hand/foot casts.

What happens if I miss the courier delivery?

There must be someone to sign for a courier delivery at the supplied delivery address. If you are out a card will be left but only where the address does not have a shared entrance/ intercom. The card will indicate what to do to have your goods re-delivered. If a card cannot be left at the delivery address, your goods will be left at your local depot and we will need to contact you to find out when to re-deliver.
If you are out a second time the goods will be returned to us. Unfortunately, if we have to re-send the goods via the courier, we will have to charge you again for postage as we will be charged again. We may also be charged to have the goods stored at your local depot or returned to us. We would have to pass this cost on to you. Orders can be picked up from the local depot if you miss the second delivery.

What happens if my item is damaged?

By signing for your goods you are agreeing that they have arrived intact and undamaged. You must, however, notify us of any damage by 2pm the next day so we can claim from the courier and get them to pay for the replacement. We require you to take a picture of the damaged item and packaging and email it to us. We will usually arrange for the damaged item to be collected from you and returned to us at which point we can send a replacement.

What happens if my item is delayed?

If you pay for an Express 2 day service but receive your item within the standard delivery time-frame of 4 days, we will refund the difference between the Express and Standard delivery charge (usually £2) to you - unless the delay is due to circumstances beyond our control E.g. Parcel mis-sort, bad weather, strike action, Christmas delivery delays, incorrect postcode or incomplete address given etc.

What happens if my item is lost?

Lost Royal Mail/International Standard: If an item posted by Royal Mail (not courier) does not arrive we will need to wait 15 working days (from the due date of delivery) for UK 1st class parcels, 20 working days (from the due date of delivery) for European parcels and 25 working days (from the due date of delivery) for Rest of the World before Royal Mail agree it is lost and not simply delayed. We will then instigate a claim with Royal Mail. Part of the process may involve Royal Mail contacting you to confirm that you have not received the parcel. We can only refund you once our claim with Royal Mail has been settled. (From years of experience, the parcels usually turn up within the time-frame). Airmail is not a trackable service but you can pay £6 extra per parcel for Tracked and Signed which is trackable.

Courier items: Courier parcels rarely go missing as it is a fully tracked service! On the one occasion that something did go missing we put a stop to the delivery of that consignment and sent a replacement within 2 days.

If you give us an incorrect address/postcode or missing parts to an address and the parcel is delayed or goes missing, Everlasting Castings will not be held responsible. The alphabetical letters in a postcode must be in uppercase as this is the format required by all of our couriers. We have our sender address on every parcel so a parcel is likely to be returned to us rather than disappear! Please ensure that if the Delivery Address is different to the invoice/registered bank card address that you actually fill in the Delivery address boxes at checkout.
